Moving to a new computer
Switching Macs is a three-step hand-off: back up, deactivate the old machine, activate the new one.
1. Export your library first
On the old Mac, create a full backup so your assets, palettes, folders, tags, and boards come with you:
- Settings → Library → Export → save the
.zipsomewhere you can reach from the new machine (external drive or cloud). See Exporting your library.
Do this before deactivating
Deactivating locks the app on the old Mac. Export first while you still have full access.
2. Deactivate the old machine
- Settings → License → Deactivate this device. This frees the seat so you can use it on the new Mac.
3. Activate the new machine
- Install Morgue on the new Mac.
- Enter your license key to activate.
- Import the
.zipyou exported in step 1.
You're back exactly where you left off — and because import de-duplicates, there's no harm if anything overlaps.
If you didn't deactivate the old one
If the old Mac is gone or you forgot to deactivate, you may hit your plan's device limit when activating. Manage your seats from your account dashboard.
